Grass-fed tallow and non-nano zinc on stone
Two do the work

Tallow feeds. Zinc sits on top.

Grass-fed tallow from New Zealand has a fatty acid profile close to human skin, so it absorbs instead of sitting there. Non-nano zinc does the opposite — the particles are too large to absorb, so they stay on the surface as a barrier against wind, salt water and chlorine.

Everything else in the bottle exists to carry those two and keep them stable.

Non-nano zinc oxide powder
The word on every label

Non-nano, and why it matters.

Everyone prints it. Almost nobody explains it. Nano particles are small enough to sink in. Non-nano zinc doesn’t — which is the whole point of a mineral barrier.

Ours is 14% of the formula. That number is on the bottle too.

All fifteen.

We list them all, not just the ones we want to talk about.

The two heroes

Grass-fed tallowTallow
Slow-rendered from grass-fed cattle in New Zealand. Carries vitamins A, D, E and K.
Non-nano zinc oxideZinc Oxide · 14%
A mineral. Stays on the surface rather than absorbing into the body.

Three supporting

MCT oilCaprylic / Capric Triglyceride
Lightweight carrier oil from coconut. Helps it spread and absorb fast.
Vitamin ETocopherol
Antioxidant. Supports the formula and the skin barrier.
Olive oilOlea Europaea Fruit Oil
Cold-pressed. Softening and nourishing.

Ten that hold it together

WaterAqua
The water phase. Every cream has one.
Emulsifier systemFive ingredients
Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Polyglyceryl-4 Olivate, Isostearic Acid, Lecithin and Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate. Plant-derived or naturally occurring. Without them the oil and water separate within hours and the zinc sinks to the bottom.
Glyceryl HeptanoateCo-emulsifier
Plant-derived. Improves how it feels going on.
PropanediolHumectant
From corn sugar. Helps it absorb without residue.
Caprylhydroxamic AcidPreservative
Derived from coconut. Keeps it stable in a hot bathroom.
ParfumUnder 1%
Synthetic and IFRA-compliant, giving each scent its character. The alternative is unscented tallow, and unscented tallow doesn’t smell like something you’d want to wear. Sensitive to fragrance? Patch test first.

The question everyone asks

“Isn’t it just beef fat?”

Yes. That’s a fair thing to stop at.

Tallow was ordinary skincare for generations before cheaper industrial oils replaced it. Rendered properly it carries almost no scent of its own — which is why every review mentions it, unprompted.

“There’s no beef smell at all. The Strawberry scent is fresh and juicy with creamy undertones.”
